PROGRAMME NOTE

‘Blurred light and drifting waves’ explores the phenomenon of light and it’s interactions with the world. Drawing on the Māori concept of mauri, an essential life force that flows through all, it explores interpretations of mauri as it flows through light, blurring into the moana, ngahere, rangi, and whenua. The piece blurs time and melody, slowing down and speeding up, giving a sense of an other-worldly or greater-than space and time.
